Improving Lives Through Healthy Pets

The Pen is Mightier than the Penlight.

Dr. Jessica Vogelsang is a veterinarian, acclaimed speaker, national media presence, and bestselling author of All Dogs Go to Kevin.
She believes everyone has a voice that matters and is committed to helping medical professionals tell their own stories. She works tirelessly to advocate not only for the veterinary profession but for pet owners as well. Using technology as a bridge rather than a barrier, Dr. V wants everyone to find the right guide for their journeys.

She is the founder of Pawcurious, one of the first veterinary-authored sites on the web. This site continues to serve as a trusted source of information and insight for thousands of pet owners. As founding editorial director of DrAndyRoark.com, she has developed and nurtured other medical professionals to find their own unique voice.

As one of the first social media presences in the veterinary space, Dr. V understands both the challenges and the nuance of medical education online. She is passionate about bridging the gap and the mistrust between veterinarians and pet owners by helping veterinarians effectively develop their online presence, which she does through her speaking, online courses, and one-on-one coaching.

Dr. V is a graduate of the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine and has clinical experience in emergency medicine, palliative medicine, and general practice. She has written for every major veterinary publication and numerous national magazines and appeared on NatGeo’s Animals Gone Wild. She consults extensively about branding and communication strategy with companies in the pet and veterinary space.

Veterinarians: The Expanded Universe

Why is James Herriot such an enduring force in the veterinary space? Because he was a storyteller. Thanks to the internet, you can be too. Dr. V wants to change the public’s idea of what veterinarians are to what you see today: diverse, committed, and passionate. Whether it’s parents, specialists, associates, owners, industry, or none of the above, each individual has a contribution to the profession that should be celebrated and optimized. There’s no one right way to be a vet. What’s yours?

Pet Owners: The #1 Pet Advocates

What’s the number one skill a veterinarian needs to be successful? Listening. Are we listening to pet owners when they tell us they are not having their needs fulfilled? How to we direct pet owners to the right resources that help them help their pets? As a profession, we can be doing so much more to empower pet owners to be effective advocates for their pet’s health and wellbeing.

“Live well. Take advantage of every opportunity to engage in the world around you. And for goodness’ sake, have fun. It’s what it’s all about.”
